Mineral Wells State Park

Lake Mineral Wells State Park, is located east of Mineral Wells in Parker County and encompasses Lake Mineral Wells. The has trees to shade most of the sites but a few are pretty sunny in the summer. The lake has a fantastic swimming hole. Sand was brought in to provide a beach. The water feels so good after a long day of camping, hiking or whatever you may have done. The water is cool and clear. Be sure to bring a tube or air mattress. The park also has one of the best rock climbing facility around. The area is shady and has rocks to challenge all skill levels. It is fun to sit and enjoy the skill and agility these climbers possess. One word of caution the climb down the stairway and back up is a challenge in itself.

For the bike enthusiast, a 22-mile abandoned railroad was acquired in 1996 and is now open for use. The trail is not for road bikes but hybrids and mountain bikes are recommended. It is a pretty ride with scenery you don't normally see.

For the equestrian enthusiast there is an area where your can bring your horse and camp overnight and ride during the day.

I have heard rumors that several professional fishermen use the lake as a practice lake to adjust their lures. The reason being that you cannot run a big motor and the lake is not crowded at all. The fishing is supposed to be pretty good also.
